In Memory

Richard Stawicki

Sorry I am so slow in getting an announcement out.

Barry Krizan informed me that he had heard from Rich's wife Beverly a couple of months ago, and I failed to get it promptly posted.

This is a link that was searched with Rich's name and city location:  https://www.tews-ryanfh.com/obituary/richard-stawicki-sr

This is the obit posted from the link above:

Richard (Dick) R. Stawicki, Sr. of Olympia Fields, Illinois, beloved husband of Beverly Stawicki, nee Thompson, passed away suddenly at home on June 8, 2024 at the age of 81.

Born in Chicago in 1943 and raised in the far south suburbs, from an early age, Richard demonstrated a drive and aptitude for building, first by working in his parent’s lumber yard and ultimately starting and growing a successful construction and lumber supply company in Matteson, Illinois, employing hundreds of people over the years, and remodeling or improving homes on practically every block in Park Forest, Richton Park and the surrounding towns.

An avid fan of sports – both as a starring player in basketball, baseball and football in his youth, and throughout his life a fan of the White Sox, Bears, Bulls and Blackhawks, Richard also coached or managed boys baseball for many years in the Babe Ruth league including leading teams to more than one state championship, and later managed girls traveling softball teams in the south suburbs.

Refusing to slow down in retirement, he and his wife Beverly traversed the country numerous times, dogs in tow, stopping to visit with family or friends, or simply to visit a national park they hadn’t yet seen. For many years, they wintered in Mesa, AZ, eagerly anticipating the annual trek to a reunion with a close-knit group of friends returning to spend the cold weather months in sunshine and each other’s company.

Richard demonstrated his devotion to his Christian faith by being an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Park Forest, Illinois and later Faith Church of Dyer, Indiana to which he devoted his time and resources when called upon.

Preceded in death by his parents Felix and LaVerne Stawicki and sister Carol Spencer, Richard is survived by his wife Beverly, children Richard Jr. (Denyse) Stawicki, Kathleen (Michael) Stolarek, Linda Stawicki and Monika Chandler; grandchildren Keely, Andrew, Aidan, Christopher, Julia, and Victoria and great grandson Michael. Funeral services are private. If desired, donations in Richard’s honor may be made to Faith Church or a charity of your choice.
