Died: February 12, 2018

Theodore Leonard Sodergren, 75, passed away on the morning of February 12, 2018. Theodore and his family lived in Glen Ellyn, IL for more than thirty years before he and his wife retired to Double Oak, Texas four years ago.

Ted, as he was known, was born to Gustav and Alice (Hothan) Sodergren on August 28, 1942, in Chicago Heights, Illinois. He grew up in nearby Crete, Illinois, attending Crete-Monee High School. Ted went to the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana, graduating with an M.S. in Communications in 1966. He married Elizabeth (Baldwin) Sodergren on February 5, 1966. 

Ted was a 28-year veteran of the United States Air Force, serving with distinction in the 1st Combat Camera Squadron and retiring in 1995 with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. During his military service, Ted was awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, and the Air Force Achievement Medal, among others. After active duty in the Air Force, Ted joined Northwest Teleproductions in Chicago. In later years, Ted enjoyed racing his Formula Vee sports car with the Vintage Sports Car Drivers Association at race tracks across Michigan, Illinois, and Wisconsin.

Theodore is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Sodergren; his two sons, Kenneth Gustave Sodergren and Steven Earl Sodergren; and his seven-year-old grandson, Michael Theodore Sodergren. 

A military service was February 19, 2018, at 9:15a.m., at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in his name to the Wildcat Sanctuary of Sandstone, MN (wildcatsanctuary.org).
